We spoke to our new Business Development Analyst, Tshegofatso Mokale, to hear more about her background and plans for the future. As it turns out, those plans involve totally revolutionising our approach to skills training…
Tshegofatso Mokale comes to MiTek with a distinguished 10-year specifications career already under her belt. Brands like Everite, Dulux, and Saint-Gobain have felt the benefit of her experience, so we’re very pleased to welcome her.
Tshegofatso’s new role sees her engaging with professionals like developers, architects, engineers and quantity surveyors throughout a project’s design phase. She champions our products like Ultra-Span, making sure they get specified on projects where they’ll make the biggest positive impact.
This demands strong relationships with the people she talks to, liaising with industry influencers is what she does best. This makes her ideal for her other key MiTek responsibility: Tshegofatso is instrumental in driving our continuing professional development (CPD) programme.
Developing value-packed courses for busy construction professionals
There are ambitious CPD plans on the horizon this year. “Our first course last year performed really well,” Tshegofatso recaps. “That was focused on helping people unravel the legal framework behind truss design. Attendees told us they got a lot of value from it; it was a solid foundation to build on.
“The second course was all about introducing and reacquainting people with the latest roofing technologies. And the third course was all about working with Ultra-Span specifically; letting people get the most out of the product.
“Throughout 2025, the target is to run six CPD events per month. We’ve certainly got the national reach and established networks to achieve that. And all our courses are currently verified by CESA and SAIAT now.”
Each course is delivered in around two hours. The long-term vision is for these events to take place with our roof manufacturing partners as often as possible. This means attendees are immersed in the subject; they get to see practical demonstrations of what they’re learning. Surrounded by their peers and our experts, they can get their questions answered immediately and in depth. The result is a better standard of discussion and, we believe, an elevated learning experience.

Rapid expansion, driven by strong partnerships
Well-developed courses need skilled trainers to deliver them. We’ve given our regional managers that role, to ensure knowledge is always being shared by people at the top of their respective games. But what about regions which currently have less physical MiTek presence? Tshegofatso speculates on what might be achievable through our wider partner networks:
“In areas like Cape Town, Durban, Eastern Cape, we’re seeing so many smaller architectural practices popping up. Or architects breaking away from big practices to do their own thing. It can be challenging to get out to every individual practice, but if we can gather groups of these smaller independent practitioners and go to where they are, that would be incredibly valuable.
“We have regional partners, whose premises have the right facilities and meeting rooms and so on. Deepening those relationships and running CPD events at our partners’ sites feels like a natural step. “So, even the smaller operators can travel a short distance and learn a lot, all packed into a single morning session.
“There’s always the option of booking standard meeting spaces. But that’s not aligned with our vision of delivering CPD in a real-world architectural or engineering setting. There should be as many opportunities as possible to speak with peers, get that live perspective. We want to emphasise that.”
Building the best team, delivering the best results
CPD is only one way in which we’re driving engagement throughout our supply chain. Bringing more partners into course delivery is ultimately a way to showcase the strength of our relationships. Anywhere in the country, we’re able to connect stakeholders with knowledgeable experts who provide consistently great service.
We wish a very warm MiTek welcome to Tshegofatso, and we’re always looking for talented individuals to join her on our team. Get in touch if you want to be part of South African construction’s bright future.
